About this piece
I painted this on the day I found out my cat died. He ate poison. My heart was heavy. Then I realized, he’s free. Although I had the idea for what wanted to do with my overall idea with these the ink drawings, they became something else. Opportunities opened up, freedom of expression opened up.
I too am now free. Perhaps free of clothes in this painting, free of my cat, but free of a lot that has held me back from feeling a lot more than just suffering or limitation. This, despite lockdown. And perhaps some of us will find newfound freedom in lockdown too. Maybe. Maybe not. You’re free to choose.
